Woman, husband attempt suicide
Woman cuts herself with a razor blade, man drenches himself in kerosene oil.
LAHORE:
A couple tried to commit suicide, on Saturday, in front of the Governor’s House. The attempt was made while Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan was addressing a press conference.
A police official said that Rajab Ali and his wife Yasmin tried to enter Governor’s House, saying they needed to meet the president and register a complaint against what they described as illegal occupation of their property in Bahawalpur. However, they were not allowed to enter. Later, when Awan was talking to reporters, Yasmin cut her wrists with a razor while Ali drenched himself in kerosene oil and attempted self-immolation. Ali was stopped by passers-by. His wife, however, fainted. They were arrested by Civil Lines Police and taken to a hospital. After Yasmin was administered first aid, she was taken to the women police station at Race Course while Ali was taken to Civil Lines police station. An FIR, under Section 325, was registered against the couple.
