LAHORE:

Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali, president of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA), on Thursday condemned the $10 million bounty placed on the founder of Lakshar-e-Taiba (LeT), Hafiz Saeed, saying President Obama is the terrorist and not Hafiz Saeed.

Addressing the general house of the LBA at the Aiwan-i-Adal, Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali said that the United States had challenged Pakistan’s honor by placing the bounty on Hafiz Saeed.

The lawyers boycotted the courts on the call of the Punjab Bar Counsel and the LBA. Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali also said that poor governance in the country was causing bloodshed, anarchy and starvation. He said it was strange that the government was ready to purchase electricity from India but reluctant to purchase it from Iran and China.

He warned that lawyers will observe a wheel jam strike if the NATO supply route was restored.

Former LBA president, Shehzad Hassan Sheikh also spoke on the occasion. Ali also spoke about loadshedding, sectarian violence in Gilgit, the murder of a lawyer in Haroonabad and the assault on a lawyer during a robbery in Nawankot.
