According to reports, the board received 12 applications, including four foreign coaches while former Test pacers Jalaluddin and Mohammad Akram were two of the eight locals interested.
Training camp a possibility: PCB
With no decision on the series against Bangladesh as yet, the PCB may hold a training camp during the ‘off-season’ before the tour of Sri Lanka.
With Pakistan not due to play until mid-May if the Bangladesh series is called off, most of the national team players will not be in action, especially after the snub handed out to them by the Indian Premier League (IPL) officials.
“A long training camp may be organised for the players,” an official close to the team management told The Express Tribune before adding that the board wanted to hold the camp as it seemed like an ideal situation to interact with Dav Whatmore and Julien Fountain.
Whatmore is also expected to meet chief selector Iqbal Qasim today where the possibility of the camp will come under discussion.
“The decision will be made after the meeting. They’ll check the availability of the players and also discuss whether to invite budding individuals to the camp or not.”
