LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Rai Ayub Marth on Wednesday issued show-cause notice to the city’s police chief for not complying with court orders to register a case against a sub inspector for illegal detention. The judge also sought a report from Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir on April 6 in response to the petition for the registration of a case against SI Khalil Ahmed of Sabzazar police. At the previous hearing, ADSJ Hamid Hussain had directed the CCPO to register a case against the SI, who had thrown a man in illegal detention and handed over his wife to her parents, even though they had come to the police station to record her statement that she had married by choice. Bakhtawar Bibi and her husband Mudassir Hussain submitted an application for a case against the sub inspector to the CCPO, but no case was registered. They then filed a petition for compliance to ADSJ Marth, who sought paragraph-wise comments from the CCPO in response. The city’s police chief did not respond, upon which the latest orders were issued.
