Public-private partnership: Rs160m approved for Changa Pani

WASA said the project will be completed within two years, installing new tubewells, constructing water tanks.

FAISALABAD: Punjab government on Wednesday sanctioned Rs160 million for Changa Pani project, to be initiated in UC 200 Shamsabad, Faisalabad under the public-private partnership model. Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz said the project will be completed within two years, with Wasa installing new tubewells, constructing water tanks and laying down main water supply pipelines. He said that minor water supply lines in small streets and the installation of water supply meters will be completed with the financial assistance of local philanthropists. He said UC 200 Shamsabad sprawled over 750 acres, with a population of 25,500, but was without clean drinking water. Local NGO Anjuman Samaji Behbood signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wasa via while the local community will oversee the Changa Pani Project and Wasa will provide technical assistance.
