Pakistan, US review status of bilateral relations
The Pakistani delegation led by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met with the US delegation, headed by Deputy Secretary of State Thomas R Nides.
During the meeting that took place at the Foreign Ministry, Khar briefed the US side on the parliamentary process underway in regard to new terms of engagement with the United States.
The foreign minister underscored that the democratic Government of Pakistan wanted the voice and aspirations of the people of Pakistan to be reflected in the country's foreign policy.
She stressed that the parliamentary process was the key in achieving Pakistan's foreign policy objectives which included security and economic prosperity of the country.
Foreign Minister Khar reiterated Pakistan's position on issues of national interest and respect for Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
She also highlighted the human and economic sacrifices made by Pakistan, stressing that Pakistan's cooperation with the international community in achieving the shared objectives was on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interest.
The US Deputy Secretary of State Nides conveyed that the US fully respected the parliamentary process and reaffirmed US government's desire to re-engage with Pakistan.
He also appreciated Pakistan's positive and constructive role in bringing peace and stability in the region.
He said that the US recognised the need to work with Pakistan to find the way forward in bilateral relations.

@thewhigs: We understand that you are a PAK so all of this is a bit difficult for you.. There are all types of resolutions passed by the UN. The only ones that count are those of the Security Council such as the one that Solomon referenced. You will find very few UNSC resolutions relating to Israel because they are vetoed by the US. This causes great frustration for those nations that at their core hatred.

Israel consistently and continuously violates a number of UN Resolutions as well. If one looks hard enough, one can find many UN Member countries violating various UN Resolutions.
Can we say those various countries sovereignty in such matters is questionable?

Unlike most Pakistanis and Pakistani media, Ms. Khar has an idea of what is going on. Pakistan having repeatedly refused to comply with binding international law (specifically UNSCR 1373) means its sovereignty in such matters is questionable, to say the least.
how come the state minister is having talks with US representatives when the policy review is not finalized by the parliament
