Football: Frontier, KU win opening matches

KARACHI: Frontier Women University beat Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) 2-0 in the All Pakistan Intervarsity Women Football Championship while Karachi University (KU) beat Sargodha 1-0 in the opening matches that took place in Islamabad yesterday.  Frontier’s Saadia Rauf and Salam scored a goal each against LUMS while Farha Tayyaba helped KU beat Sargodha. Meanwhile, in the other matches defending champions Punjab University thrashed Islamia University Bahawalpur 7-1 with an outstanding display. Zaiba Manzoor scored a hat-trick while Soobia scored a brace and Aliya and Bushra struck one goal each.
