Police deployed to disperse protesting teachers at Karachi Press Club

Teachers protesting since last 7 days were marching towards Governor House when police used tear gas to disperse them.

KARACHI: A heavy contingent of police was deployed to disperse teachers of the National Commission for Human Development on Monday during their protest in front of the Karachi Press Club, reported Express News.

The protestors, 700-800 in number, claimed that they have been kept on a contract since 10 years and the government promised to make their jobs permanent but did not take any action.

The teachers have been protesting in front of the press club since the last seven days and were moving towards the Governor House today when the police clashed with them in order to disperse them.

The police resorted to tear gas shelling and using a water cannon to disperse the protestors. Some protestors were also taken into custody.

All entries to the red zone were also sealed by the police.
