“Drone attacks are tantamount to attacking the sovereignty of Pakistan,” JI Vice President Sirajul Haq said at the rally. He said that like the United States, the Pakistani government should also initiate a dialogue with the Taliban to restore peace in the region.
Haq added that Fata suffered immensely in the name of war against militancy and said the US is responsible for massacre in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
On the occasion, JI General Secretary Liaqat Baloch said the party will resist any decision about the reopening of the NATO supply route. He demanded the government to shoot down unmanned US spy planes if they cannot stop them from attacking innocent people.
Haroon Rasheed, the JI general sectary for Fata, demanded more political freedom in the tribal region and the imposition of Shariah law in the region. He said the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) should be abolished. “The authorities are abusing the clause and putting innocent tribal people behind bars for an unknown time period,” he said.
