
A mineworker was crushed to death by a heavy boulder in Jabar phosphate range on Sunday. Police and eyewitnesses said that Abbas Shah of Banda Pir Khan village and three other miners were working in the phosphate mine when a heavy boulder fell on Shah.
The other miners escaped unhurt. Villagers removed the boulder after two hours and shifted the body to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad for autopsy. According to the police, the mine had been developed by a villager, Khuram, in violation of a ban on unlicensed excavation.
