Seismic Activity: 5.4 magnitude earthquake hits K-P, G-B

The earthquake occurred around 9:30am and the epicentre was around 100 kilometres northwest of Chitral.

PESHAWAR: A 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday morning, according to officials of the Meteorological Department. The earthquake occurred around 9:30am and the epicentre was around 100 kilometres northwest of Chitral. Areas hit by the earthquake included Chitral, Dir, Mardan, Peshawar, Gilgit and Baltistan. “The depth of the earthquake was 210 kilometres and its epicentre was in Afghanistan. Tremors from the earthquake were even recorded as far as Muree this morning,” an official of the met department told The Express Tribune.
