LAHORE:

The Swiss Business Council has said that businessmen of Switzerland, which is the fourth largest investor in Pakistan, are more than willing to invest in new ventures but they need an enabling business environment.

Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Tuesday, Council President Ahmad Fraz called on Pakistan and Switzerland to focus on joint ventures in order to explore new avenues of cooperation.

The council will work hand in hand with the LCCI for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries, he said.

LCCI Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher underlined the need for concerted efforts for promoting trade as the total volume had been dropping consistently. In 2008, bilateral trade stood at $433 million, which slipped to $377 million in 2009 and then to $353 million in 2010.
