Missing girl: Gujrat DPO given ‘last chance’

LAHORE: The Gujrat district police officer was warned on Monday that he would be sent to jail if he failed to recover, and produce in court, a missing girl by April 7. The Lahore High Court issued the orders in a petition filed by the girl’s mother, Bilqees Bibi. Bilqees Bibi says that her daughter was kidnapped by two caretakers and an employee of a madrassa in Kharian, where her daughter was a student. According to the petitioner, the police had exonerated caretakers Qazi Ameer and Qazi Tauqeer and declared their employee a suspect. The employee, Bilqees Bibi says, had “a small role” in the abduction. She has also accused the caretakers of wrongly implicating her in a robbery case.
