The police retaliated when the workers tried to enter the Parliament House to get their voices heard by the policy makers and people in power.
Six LHWs fainted as a result of the retaliation, while protesting earlier in the morning five others had fainted due to suffocation. They were shifted to Polyclinic Hospital.
A large number of LHWs from across the country had gathered at D-Chowk in front of the Parliament House at 9:45am and staged a sit-in.
They had demanded a pay raise and disbursement of six months salary and payment of the allocated amount for their services during polio campaigns, dengue fever survey, vaccination for de-worming of children, mother and child program among others.
