Awareness seminar: ‘United efforts needed to eradicate TB’

Dr Zafar Iqbal says government was providing all necessary facilities at public hospitals for the treatment of TB.

GUJRANWALA:

United efforts are essential to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) from Pakistan and to create awareness among the people about its diagnosis and treatment, speakers at a seminar said on Saturday.

The seminar was organised by Peace Homeopathic Health Foundation and The Homeopathic Medical College.

Dr Zafar Iqbal, the divisional head quarters (DHQ) medical superintendent, said the government was providing all necessary facilities at public hospitals for the treatment of TB. He advised the people to visit a doctor if they had cough for more than two weeks. He said that people from across the district could approach the DHQ for the treatment of TB.

The Homeopathic Medical College principal Dr Zaigham Hafeez said that the government should also include homeopathic doctors in creating awareness about TB. He said in many villages there were a number of homeopathic doctors but no allopathic doctors.

“We are all willing to help Health Department in creating awareness and playing our role to eradicate TB from Pakistan,” he said.

Dr MD Javed Awan, a member of the National Council of Homeopathy, stressed the need for orientation seminars to train homeopathic doctors so that they could refer TB patients to hospitals where specialised treatment was available.
