KARACHI: KRL clinched the National Challenge Cup title after getting the better of KESC 3-1 on penalties at the KPT stadium.

After both teams failed to find the net even in extra time, KRL’s Kaleemullah, Ziaul Islam and Shahid Ahmed converted their penalties, while for KESC only captain Mohammad Essa Khan could find the target.

The win earned KRL Rs300,000, while KESC pocketed Rs200,000.

“We’ve reasserted our status as the top club in the country,” KRL coach Tariq Lutfi told The Express Tribune. “This tournament has helped us a lot in our preparation for the Asian Confederation Presidents’ Cup that we will play in May.”
