QUETTA: Gunmen ambushed a paramilitary check post on Friday, killing four soldiers and abducting four others in Balochistan, officials said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but officials blamed the attack on Taliban in Shirani district, 350 kilometres east of Quetta.

"Militants attacked the post in the early hours. They first surrounded the post, then ambushed it. After killing four, they took four other soldiers with them," said a senior government official in Baluchistan.

Three other soldiers were wounded, the official added.

An intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not allowed to speak to the media, confirmed the attack and blamed the Taliban.

Zeta | 12 years ago | Reply It makes sick when own Pakistani people criticize army blindly. Just go over the Ispr website and look at long list of shaheeds recieved awards today. I may not like the top sellout brass, but i would always defend and side with Pakistan Army. No hue and cry by the media when the soldiers are getting martyred, but starts bashing Army when they go against these militants and foreign agents.

@Pakistan politics: Ok. I'll also simultaneously show why conspiracy theorists have it easy. It's a setup for supporting foreign hands in the area being to blame during their upcoming judiciary briefing. No, it's not my actual opinion of it. But, you requested it.
