Lucky Cement Limited, Pakistan’s largest cement producer, intends to sell surplus electricity generated to power supply companies of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa through its plant in Darra Pezu.
A company official said Lucky Cement is in talks with the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to sell 15 to 20 megawatts (MW) of electricity which could help mitigate the power crisis in Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan.
Lucky Cement has power generation units at its production facilities in Karachi and Pezu, which are capable of producing around 175MW electricity.
Since 2010, both plants have installed Waste Heat Recovery systems that contribute an additional 22MW of electricity.
