Lane discipline: ITP launches awareness campaign

They gave tips to drivers about lane discipline and distributed flowers, sweets and pamphlets.

To ensure a disciplined traffic system and avert any untoward incidents, an awareness campaign was kicked off here on Tuesday, said a press release issued by the Islamabad Traffic Police.


Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan along with Chief Commercial Officer Ufone Salman Wassay inaugurated the campaign at an I-8 signal.

They gave tips to drivers about lane discipline and distributed flowers, sweets and pamphlets.

They briefed commuters about the advantages of following lanes and encouraged the use of mirrors and indicators while changing lanes.

Children from Pakistan Sweet Homes also took part in the campaign, distributing flowers and brochures to motorists, urging them to assist ITP in ensuring safe road environment in the city.

The IGP said that the ITP is doing its best for a safer road environment in the capital and has the involved the community in its efforts. Police teams are visiting educational institutions to create traffic sense and several students have joined ITP as traffic volunteers.

Only for one day (March 20), IGP Bani Amin Khan also directed ITP police officials not to fine motorists in case of any violation and to instead caution them about the rules that they were breaking.
