LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Saeedullah Mughal on Monday invited comments from the Qila Gujjar Singh station house officer (SHO) for March 21 on a petition seeking a case against Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Raja Riaz for allegedly making death threats to Chief Minster Shahbaz Sharif.

The petitioner, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz worker Sheikh Muzaffar Hussain, submitted that Raja Riaz had made the threats at a press conference on March 17.

Riaz said at the press conference that he would drag Sharif through the street of Lahore and to the graves of the victims of dengue and the Punjab Institute of Cardiology tainted drugs scandal, should the Pakistan Peoples Party win the elections.

The petitioner said Pakistan Peoples Party member Raja Riaz had made “a clear threat” to the chief minister. “Raja Riaz crossed ethical boundaries and used derogatory language against Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif,” he said.

Hussain asked the court to direct the police to register a criminal case against Raja Riaz for making threats and using abusive language.
