LAHORE:

It seems as if the revenue officials were able to get the lawyers’ attention on the third day of their protest.

Representatives of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) will possibly meet the Staff Association Administration District Collector (Revenue) – who boycotted work on Friday to protest what they described as “maltreatment by lawyers” – on Tuesday (today).

The Revenue Department officials claim that lawyers beat up some staff members for not approving the registries. The protesters say that they will not resume their duties until the licences of the three lawyers responsible, are cancelled.

The association has also demanded that the Lahore High Court chief justice take action against the lawyers.

Asad Zaidi, Lahore Bar Association secretary, told The Express Tribune that he will meet with association representatives on Tuesday (today) to resolve the issue. He said that the Bar will take “strict action” against the lawyers if they were found responsible.
