MELBOURNE:
Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo hoped to build on their success in Malaysia after both enjoyed career highs in the first Australian Grand Prix to feature two local drivers. Red Bull’s Webber broke a 10-year hoodoo by finishing fourth - improving on the fifth place he grabbed on debut with Minardi - while Ricciardo was delighted to be in the points on his home debut. “I’m reasonably happy with that after the start,” said Webber. “I’ve shaken off a bit of the rust and feel we are back where we want to be.” In a quirk of fate, Ricciardo’s ninth-place finish was with Toro Rosso, the modern incarnation of the former Minardi outfit. “It’s amazing how these things work out,” said Ricciardo.
