LAHORE: Commissioner Jawad Rafique Malik on Saturday suggested a few changes to restoration plans for the Pak Tea House. A source close to the commissioner said it had been proposed that the building’s facade be refurbished using red bricks. The commissioner termed this “unacceptable” because the building originally had a white-painted facade and this would fit better with the surrounding buildings on The Mall, said the official. Malik also suggested that the ground floor ceiling be removed as it was “too low” . The plans are to be finalised at the next meeting on Tuesday. during which the plan is likely to be finalised. The official said the Tea House may be opened by mid April.
