Judo: Trials for national championship begin

50 participants hoping to qualify for the main event that will begin from March 27 in Rawalpindi.

KARACHI: The trials for the National Women’s Judo Championship began in Peshawar yesterday, with 50 participants hoping to qualify for the main event that will begin from March 27 in Rawalpindi. Top players in the championship will be selected for the squad that will represent Pakistan in the South Asian Games later this year, according to Pakistan Judo Federation Secretary Masood Ahmed. Meanwhile, the official added that, in order to create a pool of upcoming players, a talent hunt had been organised in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa where officials short-listed 40 players to represent the country in international junior events later this year.
