Citizens’ Complaints: Action initiated against 14 cops

FAISALABAD: Two separate cases were registered against 14 policemen on contempt of court and illegal detention and trespass charges, respectively, on Friday.

The contempt of court proceedings against six officials of Civil Lines police station were initiated on directive of Additional Sessions Judge Aslam Gondal. The six officials, including Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Shafqat Husain, had failed to comply with the judge’s directive, summoning them to the court. They were accused of threatening a citizen to withdraw his complaint. In the other incident, a case was registered against eight officials of Rodala Road police station on complaint of a citizen. The officials, including Sub Inspector Naeem Adil, were accused of breaking into Abdul Ghaffar’s house in Chak 282-GB and mistreating his family. They also allegedly held a person in illegal custody.
