Football: Villarreal crash to home La Liga loss

VILLARREAL: Goals from Diego Costa and Abdel Barrada earned Getafe a precious victory and extended Villarreal’s miserable La Liga season as the hosts crashed to a 2-1 defeat. A lapse in defence for Villarreal allowed Costa to score a sixth-minute opener before Barrada sealed the result with a goal in the 72nd minute. Manager Jose Francisco had little to say regarding his team’s situation, with Villarreal just three points above 18th-placed Racing Santander. “We’re in a very difficult situation,” said Francisco.
