Cricket: T20 fantastic format, says Lorgat

DUBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat has reckoned Twenty20 is a ‘fantastic’ format for new markets and audiences of the sport. “We realise that this is a fantastic format introduced to new markets and new audiences,” said Lorgat according to The Gulf News. “It’s a wonderful format for countries like Italy and the US where at this stage a longer version might be difficult. They can catch on to it quickly because it is attractive, enjoyable and not that long.” Meanwhile, only two teams from qualifiers will play in this year’s ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka but Lorgat hoped for more teams in the next World Cup in 2014.
