Watchman alert: Scavenge for dates leads to 5-year-old’s death

SUKKUR: A five-year-old boy, Aamir Hussain, was beaten to death by a watchman at the Agha Qadirdad Khan Date Market on Sunday.

It was reported that Hussain and four-year-old Kangal were scavenging through the heap of decomposed dates to find some good ones, when the watchman, Yakoob Mirbahar, asked them to go away. As the boys continued to search, Mirbahar attacked the boys with a wooden stick. Both boys received severe head injuries and were rushed to the Rohri taluka hospital where the doctors were unable to treat them.
