Cricket: DRS to be retained for NZ-SA Tests

Despite its effectiveness being called into question by Proteas players.

News Desk March 11, 2012

The Decision Review System (DRS) will continue to be employed in the remaining two Tests featuring hosts New Zealand and South Africa despite its effectiveness being called into question by Proteas players. Jacques Kallis and Doug Bracewell had expressed reservations at the end of day three of the first Test regarding the accuracy of ball-tracking technology used to facilitate review of decisions. The comments prompted Ian Taylor, creator and provider of the technology, to offer a withdrawal of his services for the remainder of the series. However, after meeting the International Cricket Council’s general manager Dave Richardson along with officials from New Zealand Cricket and Sky Television, Taylor was persuaded to continue providing the technology as planned.
