Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, responding to Supreme Court’s order of writing a letter to Swiss authorities in the NRO implementation case, said that he may write the letter without taking any advice but not unconstitutionally.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Gilani said: “There are two cases which the media has mixed up. One is the contempt case in which Aitzaz Ahsan is my lawyer. And there is another case, in which I have no lawyer, where the court has asked this [to write the letter].”

Clarifying his earlier statements on how the women workers of Pakistan Peoples Party have supported him in crucial times, the premier said that he had no complaint with the male members and that he was only appreciating the women members on International Women’s Day.

The prime minister also said that there were certain elements conspiring against the government who had spread rumours that the Senate elections will not take place, but “the elections did take place, and on the 12th the Senate chairman and deputy chairman will also be elected.”

In every country including Pakistan the legislature is supreme and makes/changes laws. If the PCO SC judges do not understand the simple fact that the constitution gives immunity to the head of the state then the Govt should get that reemphasized by the joint session of Parliament in simpler words. It is the legislature which should make the laws and the courts have to stick to those laws. The SC has never given a single verdict against an army officer in its entire history. However, it is hounding and pounding the elected Governments and has hanged the first elected PM. They had a chance to clean their dubious history and image but looks like they are keeping up with their old traditions.
