The New School run by the Beaconhouse School System will soon be starting International Baccalaureate middle years programme for students from grade six to grade 10, TNS Beaconhouse Head of School Clive Roger Barnes said on Thursday.
He was speaking at a press conference held to announce the grant of IB status to TNS Beaconhouse, which is now the first school in Lahore to offer IB education.
Barnes said the programme would include courses in natural sciences, human sciences, art, history and arithmetic.
He said IB programmes were known for their emphasis on teaching critical reasoning skills and honing students’ intellectual capabilities.
He said tutors would be sent abroad for training before classes commence at the TNS’s new campus in Phase V of the Defence Housing Authority.
Earlier, Beaconhouse School System chief executive Kasim Kasuri said with the availability of IB education in the country, students would now have multiple schooling options to choose from. He said the provincial government could look into the possibility of adopting IB education at public sector schools as well.
The IB offers three programmes: primary years and middle years programmes and a diploma programme (an alternative schooling for children aged three to 19).
