“It won’t be [completed] tomorrow or in another year,” said Hoagland while attending a round-table discussion to commemorate the services of women in law enforcement – an event organised by the Narcotics Affairs Section (NAS) of the US Embassy on International Women’s Day.
Lately, the US had been pressurising Pakistan to turn down the Iran gas pipeline deal under the Iran Sanctions Act. But Pakistan has insisted on going ahead with the project.
On the deteriorating Pak-US relations, Hoagland said that the US is still waiting for Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on National Security to review the terms in this relationship and then the US “will take it from there”.
He also said that US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter has returned from the US, but has nothing to say about the relationship “that will create breaking news”.
Commenting on a recent news of US military commander General James Mattis visiting Pakistan to discuss the Nato supply routes, Hoagland said that he was not aware whether it was true or not.

Similar commitments have been made in the past by USA, I will suggest that they keep their money where their mouth is!
The US never really helps Pakistan - it is only talk.
@Khan: I am happy you feel that way. And as an Indian I would only expect from my muslim neighbor is to keep intact the culture we have in south Asia sub continent. Our's is a way different culture then Arabs. Look at Indonesia, bangladesh, malaysia or any country with high concentration of muslims, they are doing good without associating themselves with Arabs. Being muslim does not mean you have o be Arabic. A concept which many religious leaders in Pakistan do not understand. They rather bring in dogmatic Arabic way of life to a relatively decent and open minded Pakistani community. I could only wish there are more people like you who resist such attempt to replace a culture.
If Pakistan could harness all the hot air coming from politicians and pro pipeline posters it would have no energy shortage. I doubt you have even started the economic feasibility study you were suppose to finish a couple of years go One can only conclude that some powerful people have decided that IP doesn't provide enough benefit to incur the wrath of the USA - they just don't have the guts to stand up and say it.
Many posters don't seem to understand what is going behind the doors. I don't think Pakistan is really serious about the Iran pipeline deal. First of all, the reality is that it would require about $3 billion at least to implement the project. Neither Pakistan nor Iran have the capital to finance this project. What the Pakistan establishment is doing is to try to blackmail the US with the Iran card in order to milk more free dollars from the Americans.
@Kulamarva Balakrishna: Always pointless...
There is little realistic alternative to Iranian gas. Sui gas will run out in 6-7 years. America cant help us with this
@Kulamarva Balakrishna: I'm not sure why our neighbors from the East think that we follow Arabs? Yes, we do share religion with them and follow them in that aspect of life but that doesn't mean We are Arabs or follow them .. Our music is either folk(local) or Western .. Our food is not Arabic .. Our cloths are not Arab (Jeans & Shalwar qamiz) Our language isn't Arabic, Our Government system isn't Arab .. No one follows leadership of Saudi Arabia but yes we do have friendly relations with them and as they are one of the doners thus some of our "leaders" follow them but not their ideology.
No matter what US says, no matter what cost we have to pay , This multi billion dollar project must be completed
USA can't fulfill its own energy needs. 50% of USA's oil for it's local consumption is imported from other countries(including it's archrival-cum-enemy in S.America 'Venezuela'), so how is it going to help us? USA is no friend of ours. America just want's an unstable Pakistan(economically & politically). Pak-Iran pipe line is the quickest way to overcome our energy deficiency. Q: In the last 64 years, what has USA done for our energy needs? ANS: Big promises and nothing else. Facts speak for themselves.
It is time that Pakistan discarded the carrot because there is a stick behind - we need the gas pipeline and since the Americans said "Pakistan was a different case" in nuclear help the same is true for us. The Americans can never be trusted because they have a simple agenda to dominate the Middle East, through the crusader state, and Pakistan and Central Asia through Hindu-Jewish alliance. We cannot let this happen - the pipeline is in our interest, besides Iran is our neighbour - America and the Zionists are deadly enemies.
Vienna,March 7,2012 The issue is who is well prepared Pakistan or the United States? Who plays better political chess?Chess is a subcontinental game developed before Islam was born and came to India. That Pakistan does not consider itself part of the subcontinent but part of the extended middle East focussed following the leadership of Saudi Arabia and Turkey in parts. That has made it discard chess although Mugals ended at "Shatranjike Khilare".Do these countries that Pakistan has chosen as guiding spirit have leadership know how and technology independence? What is their relationship with the United States of America? That should decide if Pakistan would be winning with its various bargaining pawns not chips since it does not have either pawns or chips. But it does have empty ambition.Iran on the other hand goes independent as it was in pre Islamic days of Cyrus the Great. Pakistan should not bow down to US pressure who is also showing the carrot which may only serve its cause for a temperary phase, but laying pipe line would be for the long term interest of the country.
Why are we so obsessed all suddenly with Iran's pipeline .. Isn't it electricity problem that is the biggest issue and not gas? then why is every one instead backing this project instead of building dams? Or am I missing something?
US will not allow Pipeline and will not fulfill our Energy needs
Another case of bad governance: Neither the US or the Iranian pipeline could provide sustainability to Pakistan's energy crisis. The better thing will be to exploit our own resources - the government hasn't even started working on the Thar coal project. Please conduct a poll on what the people think is a more suitable resource - US, Iran or self exploitation.
The United States of America is willing to support Pakistan’s energy crisis, stated US Deputy Chief of Mission Richard Hoagland! Ha Ha ha! Well only if the United States treats Pakistan equal to India in terms of that nuclear agreement that facilitated nuclear cooperation between the United States and India! But still Pakistani must not stop it's work on Pak-Iran Pipeline Project!
Wow..that would be so Good if US Helps Pakistan to solve this Mega problem of Energy Crisis...
Ok announce that US will build three Big Dams for Pakistan and we will consider your view point.
for once in life please let our parliament work without any pressure...don't you have better things to do :D
