MPA Haji Zulfiqar has been declared ineligible after the Election Commission of Pakistan confirmed that his graduation degree was counterfeit.
The ECP checked all the education documents of Zulfiqar, who was part of the PP 272 constituency, and found his graduation degree to be fake, with no records available with the institute from where it was.
Haji Zulfiqar had won on a PML-N ticket in the 2008 general elections and is a keen worker of the party for the last 20 years. He submitted his graduation degree in Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the Balochistan University, Quetta. However, the university’s academic database has no record of his degree. Officials from the Balochistan University confirmed that he was never a student in the varsity.
On receiving the confirmation, the ECP has ordered an enquiry by the Sadar Police Station, Bahawalpur, for deceiving the election commission and violating the constitution. However, SHO Ghulam Dastageer said “we have not yet received any orders in this regard.”
The same fraud had been unearthed earlier involving Aamir Yaar Waaran, an MNA from PPP. The case was registered against him in three hours after the commission’s decision.
Interestingly, Aamir Yaar Waaran had submitted the same degree of Bachelor of Arts from the Balochistan University and been caught on the same charges.

@blithe you probably wish that, but the fact is the pmln is filled with jahils. How did the pmln even except this guy don't they check, or do they pick up any random idiot strolling the streets.
What possible justification is there for government officials being given expensive cars like Mercedes when so much of the country suffers from illiteracy, poor health. We have one of the largest populations of none school going children, women die in child birth and children at infancy just from preventable causes.
Many of these politicians hide their assets, and pay taxes in the region of 5000-10000 rupees. But when they come into power we will pay in the region of 50 000 000 rupees for their cars! Insanity!
@blithe The rise of the PTI has frightened all the PML-N and it looks like you are the one whose been having these nightmares the most.......
Such politicians must say thanks to independent judiciary for abolishing the requirement of a Bachelors degree.
How many fake degree holder PML (N) has anyway? Don't they scrutinize before they induct them in their party?
@blithe: PML-N will not. They keep the fake degree holders in their fold just like they have done in the past. They put the onus on the courts, and then sympathetic courts go slow on the cases related to PML-N (Kazmi versus Anjum Aqeel, Gillani versus Nawaz Sharif). In the end, the term will expire and nothing will happen.
Bottom line is that its good to be promoting your party's agenda as a loyalist, but you should be a bit subtle while making your point.
PML-N will dismiss him form party (as they ahve done with previous fake degree holders); in turn, PTI will welcome him with open arms.
In our great country, maximum sentence for stealing something is to return it to the owner...
Time and again there is selective justice in Pakistan. Swift justice against some political parties and slow crawl against the rightwing goons.
What do you mean declared ineligible! People found guilty of forgery at such a highest level warrants rigorous punishment.
