A woman was hospitalised on Tuesday with burn injuries allegedly inflicted by her in-laws who set her on fire following a dispute.
Doctors treating Sughran Bibi, a resident of Chak 80-JB, at Allied Hospital described her condition as critical. They said the woman had burns over 65 per cent of her body.
Thikriwala police have registered a case against Sughran Bibi’s brother-in-law Ghulam Mustafa, sister-in-law Nazia and father-in-law Saleem. Complainant Muhammad Irshad, victim’s husband, stated that his wife was burnt following a quarrel over some cash and gold jewellery the couple had kept at the suspects’ house fearing that someone would steal it from their place.
On Tuesday, he said, Sughran Bibi had went to the suspects’ place to get the cash and jewellery back so that the family could start preparing for one of their seven daughters’ wedding. Irshad said he was away at work when the incident took place.
