Paul MacBride, 45, a known criminal lawyer from Scotland who came to Lahore on Friday to attend at wedding ceremony, was found dead in his room at Pearl Continental Hotel, police said.
They said that Paul was staying at room No 796. He attended a function on Saturday night but did not open the door of his room when hotel staff knocked on his door on Sunday morning.
The hotel administration then called in police who broke open the door as it was locked from inside. Paul was found dead in the room, police said.
Superintendent of Police Investigation Civil Lines Faisal Gulzar told The Express Tribune that apparently Paul died a natural death. He added that they have seen the CCTV footage of hallways and found no-one going to his room.
Gulzar said that since the door was locked from inside, they had to break open the door. Paul came to Pakistan on Friday to attend a wedding.
Gulzar further said that they found sleeping pills, headache pills and some other medicines around Paul’s body. There were also traces of vomiting which show that he could have died of a cardiac arrest. The body has been sent for autopsy which will confirm the cause of death.
