LAHORE:

Warehouses of two businesses on College Road in Township were sealed by the Environmental Protection Department on Saturday for failing to adopt mandatory anti-dengue measures.

An EPD raiding team had found stagnant water in merchandise stored on the warehouse roof.

Mansha-Ullah Butt, special assistant to the chief minister, had directed EPD officials to issue a notice to the Iqbal Town municipal officer, after stagnant water was found in the basement of an under construction building on College Road.

An EPD team also visited several houses in Tariq Block, Katcha Jail Road, and informed the residents about measures they must take to prevent dengue.

Environmental Protection Department Secretary Sajjad Saleem also visited the area mosque and talked to the mosque administration about precautionary measures against dengue.

Butt told The Express Tribune that the inspections were meant to ensure that people were taking the necessary measures in this regard.

He said insecticide fogging followed the inspections.
