MULTAN: As many as 1,000 poultry samples taken from shops in Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran and Vehari have been sent to a poultry research laboratory in Rawalpindi to examine them for bird flu virus. Bird-flu Surveillance Officer Dr Tahir Rana told The Express Tribune that the samples were collected after a number of complaints were received from citizens about an outbreak of bird-flu in the region. He said there was no evidence so far to back up rumours of an outbreak of the disease. He said measures would be taken in light of the findings of the laboratory in Rawalpindi.
