While chairing the meeting organised for monitoring polio campaign in the city, DCO Multan Mudassir Riaz Malik said restrictions against Pakistan can get severe if the country fails to end polio, adding that the number of polio cases in Pakistan has crossed the number in Afghanistan.
Explaining the traces of polio found in recent solid waste samples, Malik said that all stakeholders need to work together for the eradication campaign.
“If we will not do anything for the eradication, Pakistan will remain the only country to have polio patients in the entire world,” he said.
Speaking about the negative propaganda against the quality of polio vaccine, Malik said that the same vaccine was used in India and Afghanistan and had managed to eradicate the disease.
Stressing on the need of coordinated effort against the disease, Malik said that Pakistan has similar infrastructure as the countries which successfully brought polio to an end.
Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Multan Mukhtar Hussain Shah, during the meeting, briefed the attendees about the three-day campaign, saying that 1751 teams will vaccinate around 0.65 million children in the city.

Once a child is attacked by POLIO then it is the parents also who will suffer through out life. And if this child happens to be girl then worry of parents will shoot up. Prevention is better than Cure. The parents must run from pillar to post to administer POLIO drops and other vaccination for their kids.
DR : Were all the polio cases in pakistan found only after May 2 of 2011 ??. What a stupid connection u are making on a very serious issue of polio. Get ur mullahs educated first, if u are serious about this.
Brilliant idea! UN security council should pass a resolution barring all flights to and from Pakistan.Similar restriction on land and sea routes.Within weeks if not days it will be on it's knees and beg for mercy. Then the civilised world can negotiate with Pakistan on export of terrorism from a position of strength. A win win situation.Pakistan get rid of polio,the world get rid of terrorism (of jihadi variety).
My comment too on point?
@Salman Ahmad:
Most nations have some responsibilty to their citizens to eliminate health risks for which there are know solutions. PAK seems to believe it is the exception and wants someone else to do this for them so they can continue to increase the size of their nuclear weapons stockpile.
A side benifit would be a reduction in terrorism.
Polio was spread as a virus by Jewish pharma company so that they can use it against Pakistan.
Ladies & Gentlemen! Thank Dr.Afridi for this!
that would be another nail in the coffin! instead of pressurizing and putting sanction on Pakistan they should help instead.
