Hurdles created by private housing schemes are the primary reason for the stalled development of Park Enclave, a high-end housing scheme launched by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) last year.
CDA Chairperson Engineer Farkhand Iqbal told this to the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet in a meeting here on Thursday. The meeting was called to discuss the development progress of Park Enclave.
The committee members expressed concern over the delay in the development. They were also unhappy with the fact that many people had not been compensated for the land that had been acquired from them.
Senator Shahid Bugti, chairing the meeting, asked Iqbal how they would make payments given their current financial crunch.
Iqbal replied that in two months they would be in a position to pay, after they auction off commercial plots in Blue Area. He added that the authority had also reduced its expenditure and saved up for the purpose.
Park Enclave has become a problem for the CDA, as they have been unable to start development work despite the passage of one year, an official of the planning wing said.
During the opening ceremony of the project on February 20, the locals staged a protest against CDA officials for not compensating them. They threw rocks at the inauguration party and vowed they will not allow any development until they were compensated.

I totally support the idea of going to the court as CDA has once again swindle billions from thier clients by abusing theit trust shown in CDA.
