Australian cricketers will be targeted in a ramped up war on drugs that will see hair sampling to quash the use of illicit substances, according to the Herald Sun. Proactive Australian Cricketers’ Association and Cricket Australia (CA) have agreed on a 12-month trial of hair testing, while Michael Clarke’s One-Day International side was counselled on the policy change by players’ chief Paul Marsh in Melbourne. “We have agreed to trial hair testing and will review it before we make any decisions,” said Marsh as the procedure starts once new state and national contracts become effective from July 1. “I have talked to the Australian team and we are doing this in conjunction with CA.”
