PESHAWAR: A government school was blown up by miscreants on Wednesday when a bomb planted near the walls of the school went off in the Charsadda district of Sabqadar area, said the police.

The incident which took place at around 2am in the morning left two rooms of the school and its veranda in ruins.

“It was a primary school located in the Dallazak village, where unidentified men planted a bomb near the walls of the school,” a police official from the area said.

Residents said that the explosion was so huge that it awoke the whole village. The police were investigating the matter.

Schools in Shabqadar have consistently been targeted regardless whether they were for boys or girls. The area is located in close proximity to the tribal belt of Mohmand Agency where the law and order situation, like other parts of FATA, is unpredictable.
