ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s tennis authorities have taken up measures to convince the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to allow it to host the forthcoming Davis Cup tie against Philippines.

The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) wants the tie, scheduled to take place from April 6 to 8, to be held at the Defence Club in Lahore and has submitted a comprehensive security plan for the Philippines team’s proposed visit to the ITF.

“The PTF has assured the ITF of fool-proof security arrangements for the visiting team,” said a PTF official. “The senior vice-president of the federation Haroon Sharif has also held a meeting with the ITF president and the Davis Cup committee in London and has assured them that the tie will be arranged in a befitting manner and all necessary arrangements have been taken to ensure that the matches go off without incident.”
