Quran burning: ASWJ to observe ‘day of protection’ on Friday

The group’s chief says desecration of the Quran part of American crusade against Muslims.

LAHORE: Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, believed to be the new name of banned militant outfit Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, will observe a Yaum-i-Tahafuz-i-Quran Day across the country on Friday, Ubaidullah Usmani, ASWJ’s media coordinator has said.

The event will be organised to protest last week’s burning of copies of the Holy Quran in Afghanistan by at the Bagram military base of the International Security Assistance Force.

ASWJ chief Ahmad Ludhiyanvi said that desecration of the Holy Quran in Afghanistan is part of America’s crusade against the Muslims.
