PESHAWAR:

The three-day Beaconhouse Model United Nations 2012 concluded on Monday in which students representing various countries showcased them in a colourful global village and debated solutions for the crises confronting the world.

On the first day, the culture of each country was portrayed through costumes, artifacts and food, according to a statement issued by the National Highways and Motorway Police. Students sashayed down the ramp in the national dress of the countries represented in the event.

Committee sessions of United Nations Development Programme, UN Counter Terrorism Committee, Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee and Disarmament and International Security Committee were held on the second day in which delegates deliberated on the issues confronting today’s world under the supervision of trained chairpersons.

The day ended with a battle of the bands which gave students the opportunity to exhibit their musical talents as well. Each committee passed a resolution with consensus on the final day.

Outstanding diplomats were presented with certificates and shields. The event was attended by around 110 students from Beaconhouse and other schools in Peshawar. Participation certificates were awarded to all the delegates.

The Motorway Police had organised Beaconhouse Model United Nations in collaboration with Beaconhouse Peshawar for the first time in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The event was held at Beaconhouse North Campus.
