FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) Chief Executive Officer Tariq Mehmood Chattha has claimed that the company’s performance is the best among all distribution companies with low power theft and wastage and almost 100% recovery of bills.

Talking to the media here on Monday, Chattha boasted of the company’s performance, saying it achieved qualitative as well as quantitative improvement in technical, administrative and financial areas.

He said the company purchased 9,527 million units of electricity, of which 8,596 million units were sold to three million consumers in eight districts of the Faisalabad and Sargodha Division during 2010-11, thus line losses were reduced to 9.8%.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has fixed minimum line losses at 10.83%.

During this period, Fesco billed Rs74.29 billion and recovered Rs74.11 billion, with recovery percentage at 99.8%, he said.

Chattha pointed out that during the first seven months (July-January) of the current fiscal year, line losses were further reduced while the recovery ratio crossed the 100% mark.

From July-January 2011-12, Fesco purchased 5,869 million units, of which 5,399 million units were sold, indicating line losses at 8%.

During this period, a record amount of Rs52.71 billion was recovered out of the total billed amount of Rs52.36 billion, more than 100% recovery.
