Varsity: Intellectual Property Office launched

Bhutta said with the rapidly increasing population, the country faced the threat of food scarcity in coming years.

An Intellectual Property Office was inaugurated at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Saturday for promotion of scientific research.


The office was inaugurated at Business Incubation Centre by Intellectual Property Organisation Pakistan director general Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta and UAF vice chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan.

IPO deputy director Muhammad Ismail, Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) director Prof Dr Asif Ali, BIC Director Nadeem Ahmad and Dr Abdur Rasheed were also present. The inauguration was followed by a workshop on Intellectual Property Management in Pakistan at the New Senate Hall.

Bhutta said with the rapidly increasing population, the country faced the threat of food scarcity in coming years. He urged upon the agricultural scientists to produce new varieties of crops with better yields to help prevent famines and reduce poverty.
