Sources told Express News that Akhtar was heading towards his house from a five-star hotel when, after reaching the PM Secretariat, he lost control of his speeding car and slammed into a barricade.
The front portion of the car was badly damaged, however, Akhtar escaped the accident with no injuries.
Police did not register any case of the incident and allowed the former cricketer to return home.

Thanks to Almighty Allah , Shoaib is safe and sound...I wish him lots of Happiness and joy in life...

@adnan: Really? REALLY!?
Intikhab Alam was a member of the doping panel and had this to say on Shoaib Akhtar: "He [Shoaib] drinks alcohol, has an active sex life and he's been part of anti-doping awareness programmes. Shoaib has been around for the last ten years and the written statement that his spokesman gave about him taking dietary supplements and not consulting a doctor, shows he was negligent." http://www.espncricinfo.com/pakistan/content/story/266665.html
And also:
The PCB has withdrawn Shoaib Akhtar from the 15-man squad for World Twenty20, saying - in an unusually revealing statement - that he had been diagnosed with genital viral warts. http://www.espncricinfo.com/wt202009/content/story/405415.html
Shoaib admits it: http://www.espncricinfo.com/pakistan/content/story/413417.html
shame on all of you who are accusing him of drunk driving or being on something. my brother had an accident and rammed his car in the same place... it can happen to anyone. alhamdullillah my brother and akthar who should be celebrated as a hero of pakistan are fine
poor guy he had decided to overtake his fastest ball
@Qasim: You should be arrested and locked in the public interest.
I also had a similar accident, and I wasn't drunk or high, just overspeeding before I lost control and hit a lamp-post, which collapsed on another car, damaging its roof. My car was totally destroyed, but I too escaped unhurt. Me and the guy in the other car (on which the lamp post fell) sorted out the matter in the police station and there was no case registered against me either, and I am not rich or famous like Shoaib. Glad to hear he's fine.
He drives crazy with his antics:-)
How come the baricade didn't see Shoaib's car?
Without knowing what happened, do not alleged or blame to anybody. For God sake change your thinking..
Its very easy to alleged him as he was drunk, crazy etc, without knowing what happen behind it. As a Pakistani we have developed a culture in ourselves to pass negative comments to any others. If you are in such situation and you suffered then others comments negatively on you then what happen with you... May Allah guide you for right path..
Thanks to Al mighty Allah he saved Shaoib Akhtar
Thank to Allah he saved Shoaib Akhtar
Even he doesnt like Gilani i guess!
i must say that in Pakistan you can give benefit of doubt to Shoaib Akhtar as there might be no street light over it so it do become very hard to spot a speed breaker or some obstacle at night until you are over it. And secondly at night normal human being are not at their best so if something is there it will become very hard to avoid it.
Police did not register any case of the incident and allowed the former cricketer to return home.
Why not? Will we also be treated the in the same way if we slam into one of these barricades? Or is this right reserved only for the rich and famous? No mention of the fact that he might or might not be drunk, but we know better.
Shoaib Akhtars next book will explain what really Happened...
This drinking and speeding case must be somebody else's fault. How about the govt responsible for that? The main culprit must be innocent especially if he is rich and famous.
barricades are placed in middle of roads at the most worst locations. They should atleast put some reflecting tapes of lights on them
Thanks God he is safe. He is pride of Pak .No fault of Shoaib. barricades and speed breakers are made without any proper indication. In past so many people lost their lives and injured by these ill planned and inappropriate barricades.
I am glad Shoaib the great man is OK.
instead of dissing shoaib akhtar lets thank God he is ok and not injured.
Can happen to anyone :) Be safe Rwp express.
He hit his car on the road? So what? He's probably done it lots of times before.
Of course a bad car crash can't injure Akhtar. Only playing regular cricket can!
Case of drunken driving maybe ?
Drunk? High? Sick? Crazy?
