Mohammad Aslam, the Sindh Chess Association secretary, said that the event is being held in separate categories for the first time and will run from March 3 to 7. The categories include master, senior, junior and ladies events. The championship comprises nine rounds, while two hours will be allocated to decide each round.
Meanwhile, the official also revealed the events lined up for the year that includes participation in five international tournaments and as many domestic championships. Pakistan will take part in the World Amateur event in Greece in April before the World School Championship in Romania in May.
The players are also scheduled to feature in the World Chess Olympiad in Turkey in August besides the World Youth Championship and World Cities Team Championships later in the year.
