Karzai calls Gilani, thanks him for hospitality

Karzai says meetings with Pakistani political leadership very encouraging and constructive.

ISLAMABAD:
Afghan President Hamid Karzai telephoned Prime Minister Yousaf Gilani on Tuesday and thanked him for the hospitality extended during his recent visit to Pakistan.

Karzai informed Gilani about his meetings with the Pakistani political leadership and termed them very encouraging and constructive.

The Afghan president also apprised the Pakistani prime minister about his telephonic conversation with United States (US) President Barack Obama after his return to Kabul.

Karzai underscored Pakistan’s importance for the Afghanistan peace process and reiterated his request for assistance in the reconciliation process.


Gilani assured Karzai that Pakistan would wholeheartedly support an Afghan-owned and an Afghan-led peace process.

All Parties Conference on Balochistan

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Information Secretary also called on Gilani today to discuss an All Parties Conference (APC) on Balochistan.

After the meeting, Gilani constituted a committee consisting of Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Mian Raza Rabbani, Jahangir Badar, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Syed Khursheed Shah, Ayatullah Durrani, Changez Jamali, Dr Arbab Alamgir, Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Sumsam Bokhari to contact the political leadership of the country, inside and outside the Parliament, to agree upon a mutually convenient date for the All Parties Conference.
