Malik has also been presented before an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi. The court is expected to announce its verdict later today.
Police has asked the court to acquit Malik because no evidence of his guilt emerged during investigations.
Malik has already pleaded not guilty, saying he is being framed in the case and has no links to it.
Malik was nominated by Bhatti’s family in a supplementary statement handed to the police. He was arrested on February 13 at the Lahore Airport upon his arrival from Dubai. According to investigators, Bhatti’s family had cited “property issues” which led to the murder of the former minister.

@Pakistan politics That Shahbaz Bhatti had a family dispute over property is not in question. I have merely used the report to highlight the misuse of Blasphemy laws.
Let's remember that Allah has placed very significant burden on us mortal beings in HakookAllah and HakookulEbaad.

Murder in Pakistan invariably involves dispute over 'property' of one sort or another but where the blasphemy law is used in 'property' disputes by Pakistani-Muslims against their Pakistani- Christian brethren, that is the bone of contention in the Pakistani society today.
Did Gen.Zia and Muslim parties really think that a Muslim of today out of sheer sense of justice would not manipulate such laws for their own benefit? Did they really think that they were doing Islam a duty?
Pakistani-Christians trained the elite of their country and its leaders thus stamping a very strong footprint on societal evolution? What more can a society expect from its minorities?
When those entrusted with keeping law and order in the land are either involved with or terrified by those they have to prosecute, one should not expect much.
